Inquiry Based-Learning

Definition: Inquiry Base-Learnig is when students have a previous understanding of a topic of an specific area of study. So that, when students acquire new information of this topic, they need to have an experience to understand better through a class or a topic; in that way, they are put into practice everything they have just learned in their life.

Student's Role: The students need t
o get involve in what they are learnig. The learnig they acquire through this method is based on experience, so students have to answer questions they have of a topic, and then give a hypothesis or assumptions they think are going to help to understand better a topic.

Teacher's Role: The teacher have to come up with techniques that help students to figure out a learning. The teacher is not only a guide to get students live experiences that can help them to remember or answer some questions but also the facilitator to create an enviroment of doubts, answers, investigation and understanding.

Characteristics of IBL: 
  • Understanding enviroment: It is necessary to have many questions or doubts about the things that are being learned. This facilitate students to remember previous understanding and also help them to come up with questions and they also add new information.
  • Students exploration: Curiosity helps students to keep on looking information that help them to increase their learning.
  • Responsability: the responsability relies on how students are engage to explore more about the learning acquired, and also it helps students to have the necessity to learn more.
  • Students become the protagonist of their learning: Students get involve with their experiences.
  • Create principles of learning:  The students create their own principles of how they learn the best a topic.
Benefits:

  • IBL facilitates students to learn thing for a long period of time because they build their own learning.
  • The class is more interactive and students are active providing information about their own knowledge.
  • The learning becomes more easy to learn when teachers get students participate in their learning.
  • Students do not get bored because they are building, exploring and creating doubts and answer about the learning.
  • The learning is cooperative because everyone contributes in the class.
